Parents usually only freak the forget out if they really care about something. You've got a winner there.

Basically, communicate. The only way to deal with this stuff is communicate with people.

Sorry guys, Internet went out today.

that's what happens when a parent is more concerned with the feeling they'll get from telling other people that their kid went to college, than they are with their actual kid himself
It's pretty much this exactly. She's frequently telling me and my sister to get our act together and change our appearance so she can show photos to her work buddies.

Why does he have 4 xboxes?
What's the benefit of having more than 1?
YouTubing. He records a lot of footage and so he likes to have multiple boxes for different reasons.

does your mom even know how well-off your brother is

like, he's got a massive headstart in his career, makes lots of money, will use every bit of it to climb back into uni later on. not to mention he has SO MUCH stuff in his house

i'm pretty sure he's got his stuff hardcore figured out, and your mom's a selfish prick that only cares about the fact he didn't get horribly fried from juggling his job and uni.

it looks like your mother is freaking out over something that a good parent would be extremely happy about. this kind of thing terrifies me.

Wait he quit university for a retail job?

He should pursue his passion regardless of what anyone thinks.

Your brother did good, and it sounds like your mom only wants to feed off the "fame" of her children. Why does she want to impress the zombies at her workplace anyway? It's not like they'll give a stuff about someone else's kids if they have their own.

I agree with your mother, he is an idiot for dropping out of uni for a job at a pet shop.

Yeah I don't want to go against the theme of this thread but I think what he did was stupid?

So he's stupid for choosing a life he likes and enjoys rather than waste his time, money, and sanity for a piece of paper?

Really, a piece of paper? is that really what it is, though? Are you absolutely sure a diploma is 'just' a piece of paper, in our limited lives where getting a second shot at something is rare or will figuratively cost you a limb of work. I'm a game developer, I can do this for a living at age 17, but I won't, I'm currently working hard, even through my crippling depression. I'm not even close yet, I have 6 years left in school, until I finally have the proper piece of paper that will promise me a game developing job, without having to take a gamble by quitting school and just hoping I will be lucky. I've had the choice to quit many times, I started from the absolute bottom, the lowest level, because I forget up a lot. I had it easy in school the first year, because it was just the bottom. That diploma however isn't worth stuff unless you like disposing garbage. Having an easy schoo life however, is relaxing. I was tempted to stay. But am I really going to potentially waste the rest of my life because I wanted an easy school life? No, I want to do what I enjoy, and that is making video games, and I want that assurance, I want to make big figures so I can live a medium wealth life at least. Quitting will not get you this, you work for that 'piece of paper', because that paper is a loving ticket to a promise. (Unless you're in art school lmao)

Sorry for the paragraph, it's a soft spot.

so does OP's brother

it's not what I want to do

it's what he wants to do, because that's what makes him happy.

get your head out of your ass: it's an uncomfortable position to be in on a high horse.
