Author Topic: Is it okay if I leave my computer on overnight?  (Read 2582 times)

No, one time I left my gaming laptop overnight and then when I got back on to use it it was lagging and crashing everywhere so I thought I had to restart it but then I got this Black screen with white text telling me something about system 32. Now I don't know what caused this because I did not download any virus's but I couldn't even start the bloody thing in safe mode, it was one of the weirdest times and most stressful because PC is my favorite for everything and all I had was an xbox 360 and at the time I didn't have any friends on my xbox live account (Now I have 89 friends on Live)
system 32 is corrupted

my old computer did that lots of times

Clean out your fans and remove any dust inside and around the areas that would heat up.  Avoid running any processes that would cause the system to heat up.  Also don't have the area near your tower or laptop covered up with books or stuff.

Quite a few viruses are programmed to activate at night for people that do that
lmao don't trust this guy

I get it I'm wrong

You can stop wanking it now

It should be fine once in a while, though I don't recommend doing it often. I tend to use hibernate instead of shutoff because it allows the hardware to stop working and stop consuming power without having to close anything or go through startup; I do shut it down every few days though, to be safe.

If your cooling system is good and not much dust (if at all) is in your computer, then you'll be fine. It's pretty much very unlikely that it would catch fire.

I wouldn't leave a computer on 24/7

No, no and no...

As far as heat goes, the worst that can happen is it automatically shuts down when it detects it's getting too hot

I dont think you understand though. Even if you admit to being wrong, it was so stupid we cant help but laugh at it.

Then do it in a non insulting way like sigging it or something

What you said legitimately puts you under the elderly when it comes to understanding computers. Either you just have to be plain dumb or just plain trolling at this point.
