Hey guys, so I work every tuesday and thursday from 6pm to 10pm. So I was at work today, starting up as usual. I suffer from depression and it really hits me before work as I also suffer from social anxiety. I trooped through it, but I usually start out the work flow slow because of this. After I got done checking the dates on products, a customer asked me if I could package some items for him. I had never done that before as I only work there for a month. So I asked my team leader, which directed me to my manager, this manager doesn't like me, but is an angry forgeter and loathed by a lot of employees anyways.
Nonetheless, duder showed me how to do it. After that, instead of leaving me back to my work, he started to complain about how I stacked crates, even though my other manager (Who I previously had a meeting with about how good I was doing my work, and how I'm a swift learner, and also hired me.), thought the stacking method was fine. Duder showed me how to properly do it, and I just watched and nodded.
After that he still didn't leave me alone, he started to complain about my hair, and how it was in front of my eye.
Like so. I fixed it after he asked that, which took a little longer, as I had to walk to the toilets with a mirror "To do it properly".
I returned to my station, and he was
still there.
He starts to instruct me the basics of filling products into it's proper spots, which I frankly already knew, so I wasn't too interested in the talk. Midway through showing me the basics again, he paused and asked me if I was at all looking forward to working that day.
I said
"Yeah I just struggle starting up for the first half hour". (Because of the anxiety/depression that I mentioned. I have to convince myself to act 'happy' for the customers)
He got frustrated and said
"Maybe I should pay you less the first half hour then?"I replied
"If you want".He stared at me for a little bit, and asked
"Are you messing with me?",
in where I responded
"I thought you were joking as well?".
He paused to stare again, and said
"Are you even looking forward? Why did you even search for a job here?"I swiftly responded
"I got called by you guys one day after I put myself on a list a year prior to that call, now I've been working here for a month".
He stared at me again with a pause, and said
"What have you even been doing for the past half hour?"Finally I responded, whilst looking over at the cooler where the products were stored that I had to fill
"Checked the dates, then wanted to fill products but this conversation happened." I slightly sighed when I said the latter.
He stuck out his hand and told me to pack my stuff and leave. I shook his hand with a smile and left. He felt all smug, but frankly what he didn't know is that he couldn't touch me.
See: I signed a contact, this contract has a proofing time of one month. In this month, I can be fired on the spot like that. But that month was over two weeks ago. They're stuck with me unless they all have to agree to fire me, request it, and then later execute it. And even then, they'll be forced to pay me salary until September
even if I don't work.
So duder just attempted to fire a worker with a contract that the week prior also got complimented for his fast learning curve.
He called me an hour ago to apologize and to tell me he arranged a meeting with my good manager to settle an agreement on me not working on the days that he is also working on.
TL;DR: Arrogant manager tries to fire me, instead screws himself over, emberrases himself and gives me a paid day off.EDIT:
