Author Topic: Becoming an amateur game dev [more pics on page 2]  (Read 1256 times)

Before I mention anything else, I'm developing this game in Roblox. Before I get fired at by you guys, just know that its the only platform I'm comfortable working with. Lua is nice to work with IMO.

First some gfx work and some modelling done by me:

if you want more proof that this is me, look me up on roblox

(Destiny players: please critique my modelling on the Gjallarhorn)

But yeah, im trying my hand at developing a game in roblox. I'll make a dev thread in games some other time. If you've made games here before, please gimme some tips.

Don't act like it's not game design just because you're making it in Roblox. The skills you'll learn will apply elsewhere too.

I feel like the Gjallarhorn needs to be a little more longer

Hey dude I started out developing on Roblox as well. Nothing wrong with it and it's a great start.

I wish you good luck, what you are doing will get you started with a foundation for your future.

I feel like the Gjallarhorn needs to be a little more longer
noted, I'll have to play around with the model, but theres only so much you can do detail-wise

This probably could have gone in Creativity.

so... is there more? cause the title implies there's more stuff to be seen.

I got some other models kicking around somewhere, and the gjallarhorn is useable. I'll post them in a moment.

Is it unique or is it your standard copy/paste weapon. If your going to do this in roblox then you need everything to be different from everything else or it won't stand out.
If it doesn't stand out, it won't get noticed, and if it doesn't get noticed, you won't be provided with feedback to progress further into development.

As far as that goes, the weapon mechanics will be unique. These weapons are modeled after weapons in the game by bungie, Destiny. The rocket here, Gjallarhorn, in destiny has unique perks.

The Gjallarhorn is an Exotic-tier weapon and will have unique perks, as all exotics in destiny. Lower tier will have random, slightly more generic perks.

torque3D is actually open-source and free to use

idk if any royalties apply but i never found anything about it

but it's good to work with what you're comfortable with at this point
