I feel like at one point in the far future, the master server will shut-down, and the authentication will be removed so people can just continue to host their own servers and continue to play the game. Nobody ever leaves Blockland.

Then again, the game is available on Steam now. So maybe it would run off of one of Valve's server or something? Perhaps it would just get taken down if they can't sell keys anymore. I don't know.
