Apparently everybody's 16th birthday is supposed to be special or something so what should I do

waht? Isn't the 15th birthday special for girls?

I don't know, sit at home and do nothing but eat junk food and watch TV

It's called a "Sweet 16", and it's supposed to be special because it's when you start gaining privileges. The other big ones are 18, 21 and 40.

OP, just do something fun and memorable that won't involve much stress for planning or set up/cleaning.

I think that's primarily in Spanish countries for their quinceañera.

As for me, I got my drivers permit on my 16th. Didn't do anything else really.

What happens at 40...?

Act normal, OP. And hope for cake.

Not really in that order.

What happens at 40...?
It's both mid-point of your lifetime (not actually, but the preconception is that most people die close to 80), and it's the start of your body's health decline, so it's a good time to do some of the more ridiculous things you've wanted to do.

A lot of people go for a climb on the Harbour Bridge or get driven around a race track in a V8 Supercar with a famous driver for their 40ths.

Huh. Cool, sounds like fun.
