Author Topic: How do I fix the blurry text on my screen w/ HDMI [elementary OS]  (Read 1500 times)

So I recently switched from my (now broken) monitor to my TV, and got a DVI to HDMI cable. It's great, there's just one thing: the text is REALLY blurry on screen. How do I get it to be sharper?

Would appreciate some help on this.

what's the resolution of the tv

Try changing the resolution to see if that might fix it

Max that xrandr is giving me is 1920x1080.

does it look like its phased?

Change res and mess with the settings, after that the rest is up to your eyes to adjust. I had to do this when I switched from CRT to LED

This is what I'd suggest

If it has a auto-adjust try that too. It took me a good half hour of messing with controls and such to get my monitor straightened out. (24" S24D30, Samsung)

Is the TV actually 1080p? It's not uncommon for TVs to have maximum resolutions beyond their true pixel count, and Windows will usually automatically want the biggest.

It is 1080p, usually says it at the top right, "HD 1080p" when switching to a HDMI input that supports it.

It's a VIZIO..um...E322AR.

For some reason it says 720p on Google.

That's because the display is actually 720p.

Is 1280x720 an available choice?

Yes and it is very tiny.

well hun you can stick with blurry text, or go to 720p, or get a new monitor

Yes and it is very tiny.

is tiny with black borders or what? changing to a smaller resolution should make things on your screen appear bigger
