Author Topic: Complete fix for the Blockland ATI Vista texture glitch  (Read 5932 times)

Thanks to a Leslie Young at the Garage Games forums (http://www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.thread.php?qt=64837) (not my topic; found it through searching), this is a complete fix for the texture stretching glitch that affects all Blockland users with ATI video cards on Windows Vista.

Open main.cs in the Blockland top-level directory, and at the very end of the file append:

$pref::OpenGL::disableEXTCompiledVertexArray = "1";
$pref::TS::UseTriangles = "1";

This permanently removes the glitch. I am not sure what effect this has on performance or texture quality but I cannot see any at present.

Sticky plzkthx.

I have an nVidia card, but I see how helpful this is to everyone that has ATI.

Editing main.cs is not a proper solution.  Open your base/config/client/prefs.cs file and change the settings there.

On my machine (nvidia) changing these settings breaks player shadows, but I suppose that's better than huge polygons stretched across the screen.

OH GOD, MY SHADOW'S GONE!!

I much preferred the RTB-styled MASSIVE MOVING POLYGONS ALL OVER THE PLACE to my MISSING SHADOW!! O_O

wow, like we ever see the shadows anyways.

And the shadows look bad anyway.

Wonder why when the 0002 ones looked great..

Shut up friends.  You see the shadow every time you're on the ground and if you think the v2 version in it's low resolution blurriness is better then you're loving high.  Having a huge hole in your shadow is not an acceptable side effect for a long term solution.

Shadows are just a slight graphical glitch. Massive flickering polygons make it totally unusable and gives me serious headaches after about ten seconds.

If you can fix it for real in the mainline version, that would be great, but as of now I am glad any fix at all works and allows me to actually use my purchase.

Slow down before you go to far.

The Aussies want to get in on the fight. :cookieMonster:

I would just get an NVIDIA card, I've never been a big fan of ATI.

Sorta meant don't want a loss suit (or however you spell that).

Lol @ lawsuit.  It's his forum.  He makes the rules as to what is appropriate.  It's not like he follows you home and says "Shut up friend.".  You are coming to him.
