Author Topic: Pizzaria in my town raises $842k over gays rights debacle, reopens to full house  (Read 35000 times)

How does the pizzeria enforce this, do they have a guy at the front door issue every patron a loveuality test?
Wow, it's almost as if you didn't even read the OP. Wacky.

secular people come from all over the country than just the bible belt. Look at Utah for example, lots of Mormons. Even in a state like California they are all over.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but the context of the word "secular" in this sentence sounds like you think it means "religious"

That's another reason why I'm not siding as strongly with the "victims" (for lack of a better word, there were no victims because they were answering a hypothetical question)
You don't have to say "yo come cater my gay wedding"
Just "yo I need 20 pizzas at this address"

I found it, thanks for the sarcasm, but still why should a pizzeria be forced to cater a gay wedding if they don't believe in it, businesses usually have the right to refuse service to anyone

This is one of those sorts of stupid Americanisms brought about by "equality" and "social justice" where it's a really huge "yes but no."

They're allowed to service anyone, but they pretty much shot themselves in the foot to "protect muh beliefs"

its called survival of the smartest in the world of business, it's too bad that the internet hugbox is now funding them

I'm not sure how this works, I have practically 0 legal knowledge beyond what Google can find for me. But I assume it's meant to apply to people who are disrupting the restaurant, not to allow discrimination.
But either way, people also have the right to refuse to give business to a company.

The O'Connor family told ABC 57 news that if a gay couple or a couple belonging to another religion came in to the restaurant to eat, they would never deny them service.

The O'Connors say they just don't agree with gay marriages and wouldn't cater them if asked to.

yeah that really sounds anti-gay and bigoted and hateful and rude and mean yep

OBVIOUSLY DESERVING OF BEING THREATENED TO BE LIT ON FIRE AND MURDERED. YES.

I never even so much as hinted that they deserved it, I'm saying that walkerton loving sucks

edit: and "Not agreeing with gay marriage" is pretty up there on what qualifies for not liking gay people

you're taking the extreme of the opposite side and portraying it as the entirety of the people that disagree with what they did

when I marry I want a reception at mcdonalds

From what I've read, I don't even think there was even a gay couple that asked them to cater in the first place, but instead somebody had asked the O'Connors if they would cater a gay wedding if there were asked to and they said no

Looks like some stuffty news crew went fishing for a desired response and got one from memories

As a business they should have right of admission. At the end of the day they're gonna end up losing money for not allowing a gay couple to eat their stuffty ass pizza anyway.

In a strange twist, they ended up making more than 500x the amount of money they would have made off of catering to a gay wedding

Looks like things have a weird way of working out :n
