Author Topic: In a city RPG, what aspect of gameplay should be focused on more?  (Read 8252 times)

Lately is seems all the city rpgs being hosted are complete stuff, partly due to powertripping admins and hosts screwing with the game. I've got the means to host and the free time to, I just wanna make sure I can get an alright cityRPG server to you folks.

One other thing is that I'm not the greatest coder, so I'm not going to be able to change large things, but I can make tweaks like new jobs and the likes, and I'll try before saying I can't do something.

So yea, suggest away :)

You are adding to the problem; it's no only the administration that is stuff, it's inexperienced hosts that have no idea what they are doing.

The most important thing for me is a fix of the demerits/whatever issue. Currently if you kill someone once you can be killed and killed and killed time and time again just because it's 'self defence'.

That's only if you have demerits... For gods sake just pay them off or go into hiding if you don't wanna be killed.

It's still handicapped someone can murder me 50 times without any punishment because I took their car.

50 is a serious exaggeration unless they're spawnkilling you, which would definitely be against the rules and warrant a ban for them. Plus, if you don't wanna be killed then don't kill other people/steal stuff. It isn't supposed to let you get away scott-free.

I'm certainly inexperienced in hosting city rpgs but I've hosted my fair share of servers

if you have any tips on how to administrate a cityrpg I would definitely appreciate it

I wish I could make it a witness-based system but I don't have the technical skills to code it. I might just ramp down the demerits you get from non-assault or murder charges. Stealing a car shouldn't warrant the death penalty lmao

As far as crime in general, it's always going to be a touchy thing no matter how it's looked at. A city rpg always devolves into a cops vs. criminals deathmatch, and I don't know how to stop it besides making guns and/or ammo insanely expensive

Prostitution and strip clubs would be a welcome job aspect beyond shooting, looting and beating up criminals

Make a system where players have to donate large sums of money to the city to fix roads/parks/other public areas.

have the roads be bumpy as forget when the server's first released.

I love this idea

I'll go around and make the city stuff like the roads and city buildings start to fall apart and become hazardous unless people donate to the city or smth


super large and immersive build, maybe make use of the real estate system instead of having giant holes for lots everywhere

some of the dynamics of gmod perp. can't name any specific ones that i like, but it'd be cool.
