Computer is playing sounds through monitor and not headphones

my headphones were working perfectly, then i unplugged them and it made the monitor play sound
the monitor uses HDMI
this photo was taken as headphones were actually plugged in

is there some way to make the monitor not play sounds and force the headphones to do so

to add, "speakers" is my headphone jack

um, simply right-click the speakers you don't want sound to come through and click disable, if i'm reading your situation correctly
alternatively, you can go to properties and go to devise usage: do not use this device (disable)

i did, still not detecting headphones
i tested my headphones with my iphone, and they worked
also the jack is not broken
