Yeah, I can understand having it confiscated for the rest of the period, or if it was really bad, the rest of the school day, however taking it while I'm not attending school or it's not in session, I would not tolerate that and get it.

if you can't live without your phone for a week, you've got a problem.

Schools have no right to take our phones :(
To avoid this, I keep my phone turned off during lessons, and anyway, I wear a school uniform and my phone is in a blazer pocket.
At my school they have the right to confiscate and search ANY of your devices, or anything you have on you, period. Only thing they can't do is have you drop your pants or remove your shirt.

There's a difference between giving your phone up and a school stealing it.

you are an idiot if you think they're 'stealing' your phone. schools have policies. almost all of the time, the policy says something along the lines of, "no phones allowed, your phone can be confiscated if it's a distraction."

but that's what i mean tho

like if something emergency-y happens at night and your phone's been taken by the man, what're you gonna do? take your MOM's phone?
Well when they want to give it back to you at the end of the week usually it's very close to friday. Even though it's a rare circumstance for an emergency of some kind like that to happen I do supposed you're kind of stuff out of luck.

But that's defiance and could land you in more trouble than just having your phone taken away.

Schools should have the right to take your phone for the day, but not a week. Especially when it comes to high school, a lot of people have jobs and need their phone for it.
