should the forum adventure feature one character whose actions are controlled by everyone or should every participant get to have their own character?

I'd join in on that.
same. What is creating a character's appearance going to be like? Will we have a template, or do we describe it, and you draw it?

Either can be done.

Templates are good for people willing to get involved, but describing an appearance I good for less engaged players. I'll offer both as an option.

wait this is gonna use templates?  this is also gonna be low-res (ie pixel art)?  kickass.
appearance description is also really nice for people who cannot into art.

though if you're gonna use custom characters, try not to use the thing where only the character's owner gets a say - if someone forgets to post their action the wait can get kinda stagnant.

Well you see, to compensate for players not always being to participate, I figured it would be helpful if they were able to include a brief backstory and description of their character's personality.

That way, I can make educated guesses on what their character would do if their direct input isn't available.

Maybe I'll call them "Default" actions.

Thats usually what i do with my forum projects.

one tip is to never railroad it. make sure you dont have any moment where only one action is possible. if you have to, do it yourself - dont rely on railroading.

Oh I don't plan to.

I want the story to be dynamic, based on the actions of players.

So uh

When is it happening
