Author Topic: How can I convince my mother that riding a motorcycle is OK  (Read 1154 times)

I'd like to get into riding motorcycles as it has fascinated me forever but I have not received my drivers license and I want to tell my mother that I'd like to get a motorcycle once I have driven for 2 years, I've been eyeing Cruisers and sport bikes primarily but the problem with this is my driveway is gravel and my mother really doesn't want me riding a motorcycle, she practically flipped her stuff when my brother started driving a motorcycle.

Any tips on how I can tell her on why I think this is a good idea?

That depends, do you have a motivation beyond "i think motorcycles are cool"?

its not ok you will crash and get pregnant and die.

I like how getting pregnant is after crashing

tell her the vast majority of bike accidents/injuries happen because the driver was drunk or not hearing a helmet

Think about it,
"I ride a motorcycle." -Instant pusillanimous individual
Low insurance as well

Just don't be stupid if you get one. It's totally safe to drive unless you're stupid.

Don't licenses for motorcycles cost about $1,000 and you need to take a riding test aswell?

And also it better not be a crotch rocket

My uncle has one and everytime he gets off he has to stretch and crack his back for like an hour

Why not wait until you actually get your license? If you have no experience driving, I can see how she would freak out if you wanted to drive a motorcycle. Wait until you've driven awhile, prove that you're a good driver, and THEN get the motorcycle.

It's insanely cheaper.

Yes, once I move out I'll probably live in an apartment downtown and it is a very unfriendly place for cars so a smaller vehicle would be preferable also parking will be much more easier

yeah wait a year or two after you've got driving under your belt for sure

and you need to take a riding test aswell?
Well you need to take a riding test for cars too, not sure how that's relevant

then wait 2 years to break it to her because right now you're an unexperienced driver and it will just worry your mom more
