At our school, April 17th (last Friday) was a "day of silence for LGBTQIA people" organized by our SOFA (loveual Orientation Friendship Acceptance) Club. They put posters throughout the halls of my school. Well, a group of kids decided it would be a good idea to tear down some of the posters after school last Friday and post it on social media. They were promptly suspended.
Now, I personally thought that suspension was a bit harsh, but I suppose it is justifiable. However, today, I noticed one of my friends was not in first hour. Well, I did some asking around, and turns out, he was suspended along with many others simply for LIKING the photo! All he did was press the LIKE button. This made absolutely no sense to me, as he had no role in the actual incident, but simply LIKED the photo, and even went and un-liked it later! I think school administration justified it on "bullying charges". I thought this was a HUGE overreaction, and maybe a misuse of power. What do you guys think? Is it too much, or is it justified?
