Author Topic: Why are GameCube games so expensive?  (Read 3594 times)

maybe if gamestop's "new" thing that should have never been gone in the first place where they accept retro games can help you out because someone is bound to trade in double dash at one point or another
i got megaman network transmission or something for 2 dollars but then again it isn't a good game
and link's crossbow training is like 67 cents
then again super mario galaxy 2 still costs like 40 or so
so iunno if double dash'd be cheap if so

GameStop is soon going to accept retro trade ins.

it was something they should never have removed in the first place
i heard that if games did not sell they would throw them away

Buy them used and don't buy them from online.

My guess is supply vs demand.
The GameCube was the lowest selling console in the 6 generation (excluding the dreamcast), so the supply of games is nowhere near as plentiful as say the PS2.
To be fair, in regards to the playstation, PS2 stopped producing new games and the console itself in 2013. It had nearly 4000 games published.

Gamecube stopped producing new games in 2007 (2006 in Japan. More western games continued to be published in America/Europe into 2007), and they only had around 600 games odd games.

wii games also

metroid prime trilogy
xenoblade
last story
pokepark 2
FE radiant dawn
Just get Xenoblade Chronicles for the New 3DS if its too expensive

I cant. There are literally no stores in my area that still sell GameCube games. The only one I can think of went out of buisiness a while ago.

nevermind

Because they're fragile and easily broken, as well as not being made any more. You can, however, install a mod chip on your gamecube and burn games, but MAKE SURE TO ONLY DO IT FOR GAMES YOU OWN BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT'S PIRACY

Uhh how? Every GameCube game I have is used and has literally little to no scratches if none at all. The only game that doesn't work is Pac-Man World 2, but that's only because the person I bought it from dented it near the middle. Like seriously how the forget does that happen?

Gamecube games are rare. that's the simple explaination. I've managed to stockpile over 20 gc classics just for that reason. Also the disks have a bad allotation of space on them, makes them somewhat inefficient so the price spent per disk is a bit more. See, only 1.5 gigs can be contained on one of those disks, so a lot of materials is wasted. That might be just a general reason for the starting price of the disks when they first came out.

Gamecube games are rare.
uh, no they aren't
the only hard to find ones are popular games because they are being stockpiled by starfishs like you who refuse to sell them
go onto amazon, search "gamecube games", and marvel at how anything that isn't a bestseller is aroung $10 used
hell, some popular games are pretty cheap too
