Author Topic: Any way to get this graphics card(GTX 760) to fit?  (Read 1272 times)

Theres no way that can fit in the mounting bracket that I know of. The card on the right is a GTX 760 my uncle gave me without a mounting bracket, the card already inside the computer is a stuffty GTX 570 that keeps giving "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered".

The second port on the bottom is the reason why it won't fit on the current bracket. Could someone link to a mounting bracket that fits the 760, or suggest a way to get it to fit onto the bracket?

it looks like it's supposed to use two slots? forgive me if i'm being really stupid but try clearing space for two slots if possible and use those.

Is it possible to unscrew and remove the bottom port on the GTX 760(right side)?

You're not being stupid, It uses two of the slots.

Take out your video card and slot the new one in. It'll should be fine.

Where's the problem here? Just put it in.

Please post further documentation and imagery of what you're working with.

It's nearly impossible for us to help you with one shoddy image and a basic/vague description.

Take a pair of wire cutters or bolt snips and cut that thin strip of metal below the port. You'll probably need to open the case and remove that metal mesh stuff in the way too.

Like this:

Yeah just about any modern video card uses two back ports.
Take the existing video card out and unscrew an adjacent cover

Edit: actually it looks like the current card also takes up two slots, so I don't understand what the problem is?

Yeah, don't listen to the guy that actually owns a computer repair shop. -.-

I had an issue similar to this with my new card. I took a pair of wire cutters and snipped the excess case metal out of the way so I could fit the card in. What part of this is hard to understand?

I noticed that too after a better look. He needs to snip that thin metal strip out of the way if it's not fitting. I don't see why it's not, though.

Yeah it looks like those spaces are made for more ports
Just remove the metal pieces inside

Stick it in her pooper.

Just because you own a computer shop doesn't mean you're an expert at repairing computers.
Cutting that metal bar is not what you're supposed to do anyways.

There's zero reason to do this unless you have a stuffty case by a stuffty manufacturer that doesn't build stuff properly. The best solution is to not have such a case
