I agree with stricter surveillance, but to go that far is not possible and the article is likely trying to shock the population
"David Cameron could block WhatsApp and Snapchat if he wins the next election, as part of his plans for new surveillance powers announced in the wake of the shootings in Paris."
"The comments came as part of David Cameron's pledge to revive the “snoopers’ charter” to help security services spy on internet communications today."
"Will we be able to access the content of communications as the internet and new ways of communication develop?
Now I have a very simple principle to apply here, which should be at the heart of the legislation that will be necessary, and the simple principle is this:
In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which [...] we cannot read?"

Doesn't sound like an exaggeration in the slightest.

And I'd like to note that he said a signature from some extremely high up person would be necessary to intercept internet communications, however with hackers on the rise that doesn't matter in the slightest. If there is no encryption, there is no security AT ALL. Hackers will be able to access EVERYTHING without a signature, without permission, and identity theft and all sorts of forgeted up stuff will skyrocket.

Snapchat and whatsapp are but the least of issues caused by banning ssl, there are just so many services using it that its just something that cannot be banned any more... I guarantee that the conservatives will not touch ssl

For those unaware, the election finished and all the votes were counted and announced.

The Conservative Party won a Majority government, with 331 out of the 650 seats.
Labour held 232 seats - Losing 48 seats, gaining 22, for a total of -26
SNP holds 56 seats - Losing 0 seats, gaining 50, for a total of +50.
Lib Dems hold 8 seats - Losing 49 seats and gaining 0, for a total of -49.
Plaid Cymru (Welsh) holds 3 seats.
UKIP holds 1 seat - Losing 0 seats, gaining 1, for a total of +1
Green holds 1 seat.
Other Parties hold 18 seats.

David Cameron continues as leader of the Conservatives and is Prime Minister for the next 5 years.
Ed Miliband has resigned from the Labour party.
Nick Clegg has resigned from the Liberal Democrats.
Nigel Farage has stood down as leader of UKIP, after failing to secure himself a seat again.
SNP took a landslide victory in Scotland, taking important seats from Scottish Labour and Lib Dems

The outcome is not what I expected at all.
I expected Lib Dems to take a beating, but not that bad.
I didn't expect Tories to gain a majority.
I expected UKIP to possibly get to 2/3 seats.
I expected SNP to continue to hold few seats, given their referendum result in 2014.

I will admit, I am very very happy to see the Lib Dems out of my constituency. They've held it for so long.

I don't think you understand, his goal is to ban all encryption. If he has power over the ISPs, which is entirely possible, they can manually block access to HTTPS. Guess what this means? No more blockland. Blockland uses a form of encryption during authentication. Alright, maybe you can deal with just browsing blf. No more proxies like Tor. Alright, not that big a deal, you can't view youtube videos in class anymore... Could be good right? No more Google, because Google is HTTPS only. Alright, that's not convenient at all. But hey, they'll probably allow non-HTTPS anyway if that happens. But hey, this isn't just https, this is all encryption. Guess what that means? Now, all your wifi spots are completely unencrypted. That means that anyone within range can see every packet going in and out of that wifi spot if they have the right hardware and software. Now as soon as you log in somewhere, they instantly have your account info and can access it because all your communications are unencrypted. Login to BLF? Suddenly your account is spamming the forums and you're permanently banned and wiped off blf. Login to iCloud? Now they can upload, download and delete whatever stuff from any of your apple devices that they want and hold your devices and data for ransom, and even potentially get you in trouble with the law by uploading illegal material onto your account. Login to your bank or paypal? Your bank account is now emptied and thousands of dollars in debt. You are now a homeless registered love offender, hope you're happy. What's worse is they can do this to literally every single person.

This guy got elected.

But hey, there's a way to get around all that... you can... become Amish.

ukip supporters?! on my forum!?

Well I never.
you get less tax and you get less blacks

UKIP got the third largest percentage of the vote. #woopwoop

UKIP got the third largest percentage of the vote. #woopwoop
but one seat
so long, mr farage
it wasnt nice knowing you

UKIP got the third largest percentage of the vote. #woopwoop
I'm hoping there's electoral reform after this.
The third biggest party shouldn't have a single seat.
SNP holds 4.7% of all votes, yet has 56 seats, roughly 9% of all seats in Parliament.

While UKIP has 12.6% of all votes, yet has 1 seat, 0.15% of all seats in Parliament.
Parliament is quite clearly not reflecting the views of the voters.

Haha, Ed Balls lost his seat in parliament, what a mug.

Which reminds me:

Jolly good ol' Blocksalot

i still wonder if he's happy and brainwashed somewhere  :cookieMonster:

quite happy that the blue splodge on merseyside has been laboured up

hopefully we see the FPTP voting system removed soon, ukip and green both getting 1 seat despite both having millions voting for them is absurd

long time no see  one of many alts of some particular user

some say he lives in the woods, living off a jar of peanut butter and a portrait of Obama repeating to himself that the government didn't do anything wrong

According to credible sources, Self Delete may be you best option.

The source also states that if David Cameron gets elected and takes away your benefits, Self Delete will be your only option.
