HalfBrick is probably our only successful game studio still standing. They do cool stuff, but I hate the mobile platform since it's swamped with so much stuff and so many clones. They're also really limited with what they can do.

Our mineral resources are no longer as popular as they once were because other countries are producing them cheap, and the world is becoming less reliant on coal and oil products.

We don't have a single good media studio, with exception to the guys who created The LEGO Movie (which is still technically an American film).

Most of our products are Chinese rip-offs or American imports. Many Australian-made products are either inferior quality, or only have a digital market-place because the giant store chains won't sell their products.

I did read about the copper industry in Australia dying due to China's overproduction of the resource, would you say that from what you are witnessing, as an Australian, that your nation's economy is slowing down?

Pretty much the best summary for it. We don't produce anything except natural goods that are becoming useless to everybody else.

Then again, now is a great time for someone like me to turn Australia into a big media production country, seeing as we have quite a few talented people who are just leaving for American since no jobs exist here.

Out of twenty one million Australians, I am sure at least one Australian is producing something of quality in their home-country (Australia).
those are not odds to support this legislature lol

how the ever-loving forget is taxing netflix and steam going to stop piracy
i don't think it's supposed to be
Out of the article in OP, and the several first result in a google search for "australia tax" or "netflix tax", piracy is mentioned nowhere except the comments
can someone link something that actually says this is intended stop piracy?

I bought a SAS Beret from Australia, only thing I'd ever buy from there.
Ironic, seeing as the SAS is British.

At least you'll always be number one in export of camels.

Why live in Australia
The sun is nice, and the babes are hot too.

Yeah with a nice side of skin cancer while ya at it.
