Author Topic: Americans choose Harriet Tubman to be on the $20 bill  (Read 48941 times)

I'm not going to hypothesize a bunch of stuff that didn't happen and probably wouldn't have happened regardless. there is no point in talking about the butterfly effect.
You can try to reject Chaos theory all you want but it's still a legitimate thing that's backed up by over 300 years of mathematics and research. You can't just forgetin throw that stuff out the window. Any number of incredibly small events could change not only your life, but everyone's lives. And hence, large events like mass deaths change lives even more drastically than small ones. I think you underestimate the power of small things here. Think of it like waves in the ocean. A small gust of wind can whip up a tiny wave that heads towards the shorelines and by the time it gets there it's turned into a massive, several hundred meter long tens of meters high rolling wave, except in the entire universe that wave never stops. It keeps going and going and going and it builds up higher and higher, infinitely.

the great debate: do you dig harriet toobman

But answer me this.
What does chaos theory have to do with a dinosaur theme park??

In regards to the title it isn't uncommon for an entire people to be represented by the opinions of a few. I mean, who actually does public opinion polls. Apparently only 9% of Americans actually bother, so their opinions are being used to represent all of America's.

what are you even saying lol
Men make the money, women spend it. Women just stockpile all their cash and retire

Men make the money, women spend it. Women just stockpile all their cash and retire
you have a really forgeted up world view that isn't grounded anywhere in reality.

Men make the money, women spend it. Women just stockpile all their cash and retire
Isn't this kind of generalizing? I mean, there are a lot of single mothers out there that have to work to support their kids.

I'm not rejecting it, I'm saying that ultimately things would be almost as they are now.

... so the world and america would be the same if israel had never formed and neo-radical islam hadn't surfaced in the cataclysmic way it did.

Stuff did happen because of small things, and thugs will continue to happen because of small things.
There is a point, it is completely relevant to the discussion. It's an entire theory that has been studied for decades that happens to contradict your argument.

Besides, it's pretty stupid to think that a major war wouldn't affect your life in any way. Say we lost the war, you probably would be living in a completely different country. Thousands of children wouldn't be born because their parents were killed.

relevant:
Roman times: Jews kicked out of Israel by Romans, Romans claim the land. Rome falls apart. Jews migrate to Europe which causes centuries of hatred. Fast forward, Islam is founded and there medieval crusades in the area. That region is conquered by the Ottomans and people convert to Islam. Fast forward, WW1 happens and the Ottomans get their ass kicked. UK and France claim Ottoman territories. Riddler is ass made, uses the jews as a scape joke because of centuries of old hatred. WW2 happens, muh 6 gorrilian. Churchill and friends drunkenly draws borders and call it quits. The Allied high command knew about the death camps, but didn't do much about them. So to save faith they create the state of Israel and Jews from all over Europe and the USSR flock to the knew land. Because of Churchill's loving up the borders, the Arabs see this as threat to the sacred holy land and start several wars. This is also the cold war, a lot of those countries go the USSR for weapons. To compete with the USSR we give weapons to Israel. More wars happen. So here we are today with the latest Israeli-Palestinian drama.
A relatively minor thing (Jews kicked out of Israel) spiraled out of control into most of today's conflict it seems. Chaos theory in action right here folks.

Men make the money, women spend it.

Just a weird question, have you ever stepped outside of your house?

i know what the theory is, stop repeating it. no one was talking about a war. the holocaust is not ww2.

george bush and richard cheney kissing for the $20 bill

How about print half the 20s with Jackson and the other half with famous native American and Shirley Chisholm.

ultimately
That's not how it works
the changes that are made don't just smooth themselves out, they continue to grow and influence other things to change (no matter how small the change may be) and the further forward you go in time the more different things are. This is literally the most fundamental part of chaos theory, that as time goes on to infinity, things get infinitely different.
