Author Topic: AVG is killing my system. Help please. Solved! forget you, AVG.  (Read 1185 times)

Alright, recently, my computer would hang unexpectedly. Nothing would work. The cursor does move, the lock keys toggle but Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Shift+Esc wouldn't do anything, the disk light wouldn't turn on and CMD would stop responding. This is like the 8th time this happened so I checked the event logs as soon as it stopped freezing and there's two errors in the System category, both about an AVG service. One stating that it errored on startup and a second one that it hung when Windows tried to close it. How can I completely remove AVG from my computer?

Note: Whenever I try to open the GUI, the process hangs and nothing happens.

Have you uninstalled AVG and deleted it's data in AppData?

did you get AVG free

did you get AVG free
Yes.

The GUI doesn't come up so I cannot uninstall it via its interface nor would I kill it mid-run unless its the last resort.

did you get AVG free
Yes.
that's your problem
free AVs are usually stuffty and bug you with "huehuehue your trial expured pls buy uhnloin"
if its an actually good free AV
I cant help you
also, unplug and replug your computer

this one time i installed AVG, hated it, and tried to delete it. it took me 4 full hours of effort.

godspeed, pie crust

I'd rather have "huehuehue trial expired" than "huehuehue must install antivirus or windows goes apestuff".

I'd rather have "huehuehue trial expired" than "huehuehue must install antivirus or windows goes apestuff".
of course
we would all rather prefer "hue triel expird" than "hue instal antivirs or ur windows gos apestuff"
because the first option doesn't forget your computer up

Alright, alright, enough.

Onto the problem. What the forget is this supposed to mean?

you can't close anti virus programs

forget you and your permissions bullstuff. I'm the administrator of this goddamned system and you will be eliminated!

The only antivirus I need is common sense
Anyway good luck with it because uninnstalling Av's are a pain in the ass

1 - Thank god you still have a floppy drive and spare floppies.
2 - Format them for MSDOS and install in it NTFS drivers.
3 - Boot from floppy.
4 - Delete every AVG file.
5 - Boot Windows while fingering your screen.
