Author Topic: Looking to buy a graphics card  (Read 967 times)

Hey guys!

I have a PC that I'm going to hook up, but it's built in graphics card sucks. I'm looking to buy a relatively cheap graphics card within the range of $35-$150. I'm tired of running games on their lowest settings and dealing with 16-29 fps. Some games where I would be able to run medium - maybe under max graphics settings and be able to run smoothly. Some of the games that would be nice is Blockland (for awesome shaders), Borderlands series, TF2, shaders on Minecraft, Robocraft, etc. I don't know too much about graphics card so that's why I came here to ask for your help.

They graphics card also needs to be relatively small, no graphics cards with huge fans as I only have one slot and it's pretty small (small computer too).

On a side question, do you know if the graphics card would make my games run faster? Is it GPU, CPU, or processor?

On another side quesetion, would a AMD Anthlon 64 x2 processor work well for games? (Not sure exactly what processor it is only that I know it's AMD 64 x2)

I'll sell you my GTX 660Ti for 170 dollars.

im currently using amd fx 4100 and a gtx 650 ti which is one of the smaller sized ones

can run every game -gtav on mid/high at 60fps

You can get a GTX 750 for around $150.

Should probably run most games on max, and more modern graphics-intensive games like GTA5 at high. Any source game you throw at it it will max out (full antialiasing too) without even blinking an eye.

I hope these aren't too big. If I find the time I'll go out and take pics of the computer to see if they could fit.

Also what about that AMD 64 x2?

I ordered the GTX 960 a few days ago, it's gonna feel good not having to play basically every game with 15-25FPS

Nice, but I think that's too big for my small computer. I'll take a note of that though.

Sweet! A bit expensive though. I'll definitely look at that.

Are there any cheaper ones that would be good?

I currently own the gtx 750 and i can confirm that it can run games pretty well, though it usually only gets around 25-30 fps on max shaders on blockland and probably wont be able ot run borderlands on max grahpics, it can still run most games on max graphics at a relatively high fps rate.

uhh guys i'm pretty sure an athlon 64 x2 would bottleneck everything you guys suggested, looking at the cpu it's just another computer that isn't worth upgrading
also need info on the psu
