Thinking of starting a blog, but I need some advice

So, I've made a decision, but I need someone to give me advice on it.

I'm thinking of making a blog with the Ghost software (available at http://ghost.org), and then I'm going to buy hosting at https://hostripples.com/index.php.
anyone have some opinions on this?

I've already used Tumblr for a while, I'm not necessarily talking about a site like that, I need web hosting and decent software to start up a blog.

Thanks for your advice anyway, Tumblr is a great site.

Oh and also, I know I said monthly subscriptions are out of wack for me, but pistach.io looks really cool plus it's cheap af, would this be a good investment?

Also, Ghost is also one that's cheap and looks good, would it be a wise use of my time?

Use Wordpress for your website, definitely.
Host I don't know much about. I used to use Site5, but it's pretty pricey.
