Author Topic: Free forum creation?  (Read 1078 times)

Does anyone know any good places where I can create a free forum that won't have an annoying name? If it's something decently popular, it won't be a problem, but if it's like "www.forumname.forgetboyforumm aker.com" it really isn't very attractive.

Good names these days just come with a pricetag. I doubt you can find a good host that allows free domain names.
Let alone, good forum software comes with a pricetag, unless you'll use SMF.
And good SMF skins, also come with a pricetag.

buy a website and use SMF

I used to use Create a Forum. IIRC you could buy a domain and give it that domain name.
Edit: If you can't buy a domain name, get a free one instead, but be careful.

If you don't want any bullstuff whatsoever though,
buy a website and use SMF

buy a website and use phpBB
fixed lol

actually you know what your phrasing doesn't make a lot of sense either
pay for shared web hosting and a domain name, and use phpBB

explain urself gaybo
its just really inconvenient to use compared to smf, imo

i guess godaddy would be cool to use because of the cheap pricing. i have no idea how web hosting works, but i wanted to use smf for the forum.

get one of those free domains with hosting and install smf on it.

A domain is like 8$ a year and you can probably find hosting for free somewhere

Here's to keep in mind, don't buy a domain from a company with free hosting. Usually they'll be much pricier and the use will be much more inconvenient. If you have a bit of spare change though, you should buy a domain from http://namecheap.com or elsewhere and then transfer it to a site that offers transfers. The transfer will cost emone, be aware.

Hosts I can recommend:
biz.nf
biz.ly
Zymic

Good forum software:
phpBB
Simple Machines Forum
Vanilla
YaBB
JForum

EDIT: Also, while I understand you're looking for a full domain with free hosting, I hate to say that isn't possible. Sorry pal, you gotta spend a dime to get a quarter.

why bother transferring it?

why bother transferring it?
(I don't think Blood.fm really knows what he's talking about)
But NameCheap is an amazing domain host, I own one.
