it won't necessarily notify you, just check the edge of your taskbar

You are up to date but you need to make sure you download one of the specific optional updates I think its KB3035583.

Edit: I can confirm you do require KB3035583 in order to receive the notification, you can find it in "Optional Updates"

I really don't understand how this works. I've looked over several things to help you get the notification to appear yet nothings worked. I have looked all over this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/i-want-to-reserve-my-free-copy-of-windows-10-but-i/848b5cce-958b-49ae-a132-a999a883265b
and this
http://www.reddit.com/r/windows/comments/380p9r/so_this_just_appeared_on_my_taskbar/crrgf1o
yet nothing works for me. The script it tells you to run to help it appear says it worked for me but doesn't make it appear.

What FearGX_ said on the reddit thread doesn't appear for me, I only  have a folder named gwx but I don't have one named GWXTriggers. I have the update required for it to work, I installed it a while ago (May 20th) then I uninstalled it as it wasn't working and reinstalled it today; I also installed a bunch of optional updates today as well (I'm not sure if those might prevent it at all?).

I'm really not sure what is going on, especially since I got my computer one Christmas a while back, my brother got the exact same one and he has the "Get Windows 10" thing on his taskbar. I've honestly wasted 4 hours already today trying to figure out how to get this to work. If someone has ANY idea on how to help, it would be appreciated. Also I do have Windows 7 Home Premium and Service Pack 1.

Please help, I really want this.

EDIT: Okay so I talked to a windows support tech and they said that since I tried everything else I should just get it on the 29th, but I'm still really confused why that's the case since my brother got the EXACT same computer as me and still does have the EXACT same one. Support tech didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know... Oh well.

You'll get it, just not right away. You'll get it on the 29th as microsoft has said. You could also try asking an actual windows support tech, or asking on that subreddit, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be willing to help you.

How strange, I do not understand the reason why Microsoft would not let someone preload... I hear its due to driver compatibility or something.

the pos systems at work have the icon :panda:
