Author Topic: First person join Lag, Do you have this?  (Read 1372 times)

Now to start out, some people might think that this is an unnesaccary topic, Yeah, it sort of is, But i want to find out this.
When i start up a server, When the first person joins, my game freezes for about a minute and then unfreezes.
Does anyone else have this happen to you?
Wtf how do you add a poll

It is normal.
It is not a glitch or anything.
If im correct, the first player has some sort of thing for the console of some stuff.

Yep, this usually happens, if not always.

This happens because the file manifest for the player who joins is being created.

Thanks, i was intrested in knowing.

It's because of Cookie.

Yes it happens all the time, I used to think my server was going to crash lol.

It basically regenerates the manifest for others to download your data because every time you launch your server the manifest has to change.

This only happens one time per server up-time. It's normal. Same thing when you add new datablocks to the server while it is still running.

i feel like this didn't used to happen

Definitely didn't happen at some point, but those were the dark ages.

i feel like this didn't used to happen
this didn't happen when the file manifest wasn't a thing

I feel like the manifest should be generated on server startup, not on first-player join...

was just about to say this

doesn't make any sense for it to be generated when the first player joins from a UE standpoint

I feel like the manifest should be generated on server startup, not on first-player join...

I wonder if there's any logical reason behind why it doesn't. If not, it should generate on startup.

My problem is that when this happens, most of the time there are like 2-5 people joining around the same time thus kicking them all because of the lag. This made me mad because my old computer made the lag 10x the length.

Well think your selves lucky that it does not lag for every single player that joins.
