Any ideas why?

They're aware of it and working on a fix, apparently you also can't use Skype without reinstalling it after doing this.

I was stupid enough to test it.

My Skype froze and threw an exception, but seemed to be otherwise working just fine. Then I figured I couldn't send messages, so I restarted Skype (force closed it from Task Manager). Works fine now. No reinstall necessary.

Lol, looks like the link parser was made really poorly. Wonder how the code could have been so convoluted that something so simple could cause a fatal exception without anyone catching it beforehand.

Ya I tested it out too. No reinstall needed

Crashes mobile too

lol it just gave me a "stopped working" dialog, then a "exception in blah blah memory" stuff, and went back to normal like nothing even happened
it never closed :o

try the windows store edition.

I just had to reinstall skype on my phone because of this bug

Now I can't even open Skype on my desktop. I am reinstalling skype now on both my phone and desktop. This was more serious than I expected...

lmao gonna try this one out of my friend

i still use the old version of skype without the ugly text bubbles (imo they're out of place on a desktop app)
