Author Topic: Can we pls stop with the skype clique circlejerk thing?  (Read 5637 times)

The excuse of "a group of friends" doesn't cut it.

Excuse? I'm saying that we're just friends, and that the skype group wasn't made because we all share a mutual bond in flaming people on the forums or w/e but because we genuinely enjoy talking to each other and hanging out together

People automatically assume a group of friends is a circlejerk no matter what and I'm frankly pretty sick of that notion

that was fun though
i mean we were pushing it a bit as a gang but we kept to the RP for the most part.

there were people doing more outrageous things

you guys were actually funny too

Because we've seen it happen once or more you've already left a bad impression. The excuse of "a group of friends" doesn't cut it. There's a lot of things "a group of friends" can do.

I'm not in that skype group but I'm in another forum skype group

we do the same thing they do with backing up each other - why? because we're friends and have common interests.

wtf how do you talk to each other in a 20+ call
I can barely go through a four person call without interrupting people

usually in groups like that only a handful of those 20 get on at a time

why don't i get invited to circle jerks.

Yeah well, friends don't encourage friends to continue doing stupid stuff. And I didn't automatically assume that what you were doing was wrong, I don't do that. I don't believe stuff until I've laid eyes on solid substantial information. Your making me look like an starfish by saying i'm assuming something that's not even true.

When a few bad eggs representing a group in any way mistreat somebody, the public is going to automatically assume this is how this group operates. Expecting the normal user to do more research on your group before labeling everyone in it a problem user is assuming that particular user is involved enough to do the research. The consensus on this skype call to the normal Joe is to avoid clique members because they're known to perpetuate drama. Why haven't you shown people otherwise? You can't just say things aren't that way, because nobody will believe you.

The issue on some members behalf is the lack of effort put into proving your group isn't full of problem users. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can't change somebody's mind by telling them they're wrong. That doesn't make a difference. You have to show them why they're wrong. Disprove any allegations that your association with a skype call makes you a problem user by not acting how they expect you to act.

tl;dr version: People hate your call because they've been exposed to only the bad side of it. If you can figure out how to show them that there's more than just a bad side, you'll gain their respect.

Aaah that's familiar lol

I'm not trying to make people like my skype group. I just don't want me or any other friends to be lumped in with the random drama that friends get into just because we talk to them.

I didn't mean to imply that you were the one assuming, I'm sorry for not making that clear.

It was pretty tragic, in the beginning we wanted to rp as a stereotypical mexican drug cartel but instead of roleplaying, people just shot at us

so we just hid in our base while building :v

I invited you to my secret mountain base to do your drug packing in tranquility but I guess your grow house was already too efficient

I don't give a stuff about my reputation but calling out clique as a last resort is the only thing that's bothering me here
if pyro didn't make a drama about this call, nobody here would have a single clue about ours

thing is two or three people out of 25 shouldn't identify a group, again we wouldn't even be known as one if that drama was never made

100% i agree with you

Yeah, no ones considering your entire skype group a "clique/circlejerk", just the inner ring of obviously problematic users that happen to inhabit that group, the same ones who start stuff with people and then leap into a argument trying to defend eachother no matter what they did.

I dont find you a problem at all, its just very specific people in that group that cause a ton of trouble and thus people tend to generalize it to the entire group since they're seemingly the most prevalent part of it.
