So imagine if you had a needle with a surface area of about 100 micrometers, if you applied 1 pound of force to it you would end up with about 65,000 pounds of force concentrated on that one spot for every 1 pound of force you applied to the needle. essentially, when you cut or puncture something, youre just focusing an immense amount of force into one spot thats strong enough to destroy molecular and chemical bonds
