Parents gave me $500 for a laptop so looking for the best laptop around $500 willing to spend a little more and no desktops I need this for college

Lenovo yoga 2 is pretty much the best laptop you can get for 500 / 550 dollars, but it's windows 8.
It only has 1 camera (front), audio is stuffty sometimes, can be a pain in the ass sometimes, and you might need a mouse for it because the track pad is stuff.

Windows 8 is a plus, if anything OP should go for the $499 surface, unless you can afford one of the higher range models.

That;s what I would buy for college if I could, but I have to stick to an old craptop.

Horrible idea, the guts cost less than the laptop itself, software compatibility issues and aside from that enjoy struggling to find someone with a charger that;s compatible, because I have no clue why they have to change the charger on that thing every damn time.
