So I'm currently developing a sort of space adventure, inspired by FTL. You play as the captain of a ship and can fly around the galaxy metaphorically punching aliens in the face (or literally punching in the face) or do whatever you want really. I was just looking for input on the mechanics; for those wondering, I'm using Tiled.
Hull: 1000/1000Battery: 1000/1000 MJFuel: 100%This is the default ship (the ?s are there for the characters, which will be replaced by the first letter of their chosen names.) The hazard tiles represent airlocks, the helm represents the... well, helm, the gun represents the weapon aiming center, the shield the shield control system, the cross the medical bay, the nut and bolt the repair center, the gas can the fuel/coolant/piping system, and the battery, is, of course, the battery, as well as the generator. The arrows are thrusters and the circled numbers will represent different weapons. When in combat, different systems will have different health bars, but there's no need when out of battle.
Obviously, there'll be HP for the hull and individual systems, shields, etc. It'll of course be turned based, since this is a forum and that's about all we can do. I made this post because I wanted some input on what mechanics should or shouldn't be present.
Here's what it might look like during combat:

The first panel is your ship, the second is the enemy (with a suspiciously similar design.) In this scenario, life support and repair are on fire, but the forums have shut the airlock to prevent further spread, although a wall might collapse. The red overlay implies that a certain part of the ship has received hull damage. Meanwhile, you have set part of their ship on fire, although you do not know their ship's design other than a part that you scanned.
There will, naturally, be an overworld/planet/star system too, but I haven't done the sprites yet and I'm tired. Also, you can go to shops and buy upgrades and reconfigure your ship.
