Author Topic: How much would it cost to build a decent gaming pc?  (Read 784 times)

I want to build a deskotp but I need a price bracket. I have an old pc that still works but is ancient so I am using it to study how they go together. What I am looking for is what I would need to make a desktop capable of running most modern games at  least medium settings. Help me forums you're my only hope.

I'd say probably between $800 and $1000

I'm pretty sure you could build something reasonable for less than that.

Modern games at medium settings, 1080p@60FPS? $800. I'm reasonably confident in that estimation

~$600-700 dollars with monitor for a PS4 or higher equivalent machine. This is without over clocking.

1080p 60fps is not medium settings

1080p 60fps is not medium settings

You're right, they're not settings at all. Your point?

Most games you can set that so yes they are settings.

1080p is the average monitor size used for gaming in this day and age, 60FPS is the framerate you expect to have for a comfortable gaming experience. They are not graphical settings they are what you should be getting at the very least if you're gaming on an average level

Resolution is a setting but there's no reason to set it lower than 1080p unless your monitor can't support it. You should be asking for hardware that can run that.

Fps isn't a setting at all though

there are settings to set FPS
on MC I have mine set to 60 FPS, because I don't need it well over 100
and so I limit it

I had a brand new 300$ Vaio that ran 1080p and went 60fps. It caught fire a few months later before I could do research on the laptop.

Decent? Barebones could get you one within 400-500USD that will run modern titles nicely. Not sure where half the "experts" in this thread are getting their prices.

Yeah I'm confident these people have never built a PC or have no idea how to do it cheaply.
