while they are, pigs cows and chickens don't have the same affections as dogs or cats, nor are dogs and cats livestock / poultry
i have chickens in my backyard that i'd never eat, but that doesn't mean i'm giving up my favorite food
dogs on the other hand, whether i knew them or not, would still be really, really strange to just order at a restaurant or something like that
