No. This is still in correct. They train you for combat, they do not do a selection of who is the toughest. You could be the weakest of the platoon and come out one of the stronger guys. You push yourself in bootcamp and while doing PT. If oyu do not pass your PFT I think they PT your ass to high heaven until you do.

Every Marine a rifleman. anyone who goes through basic training (in the US Army/Marines, atleast) is trained to know how to use their weapon and other basic combat skills. You go to a school to learn how to do your job after basic.
