I quit band entirely after my sophomore year. I was going to just quit marching band, and stay in concert and jazz band (one class), but the next year they were changing it to one year-long class instead of two semester-long classes
I really liked the games and competitions but that wasn't worth it to me to spend two weeks during the summer practicing and three days a week during school

I double really liked the concert and jazz band part of the year, but I didn't wanna put in a semester of marching band just to get to do that

pfft two weeks

the school I almost went to decided that they would do it for 6 weeks during summer, 1 day of every weekend, and usually 4/5ths of every break

also, 2 hr after school practices

for one week we have "Band Camp"
we don't go anywhere, but we basically live at marching band that week

practice from 9am to 10pm
go home and sleep
repeat

how

so i'm in the marching band in highschool, incoming freshman this year. went to first summer practice today and those brothers are CHILL AF AS forget man, they all love me. i think i'm gonna like marching band. the actual marching sucks tho, but i know that'll get easier.

anyone else in marching band? hook me up with some practice techs or some stuff? we needa start a little club or summin
Was in marching band for 3 years and it was chill as forget.  Marching sucks, but you bond with your bandmates that way.

I would be in it this following year (incoming freshman aswell) if the summer practice dates weren't when I was out of country. I'll see if I can do them next summer though.

update: so for practice today we marched and played around a neighborhood, people were coming out of their houses to take pictures and videos, and the marching actually felt pretty good. being a freshman, i screwed up quite a few times, but it was still really fun.

after practice, my squadmates and i went to graeter's ice cream and we did would you rather and stuff like that. stories were told and it was a good time. i fit right in with everybody and they're all total bros. i think i'm gonna like marching band
today your neighborhood

tomorrow dresden

I'm not sure if this happens in your area, but every marching season, there's usually one competition where the concession stand sells loving CHIK-FIL-A CHICKEN SANDWHICHES. Trust me they are heaven when you're stuck at one.

I wish my bandmates were friendly... I just got mocked, not being taken seriously, and started getting talked down to so I quit.

well marching band was fun when I did it I just hated the concept of seniority and practices and all that considering marching band is the most active throughout the year

I just decided to do band and another sport. Marching band is just way too much work.

did a little performance for our parents tonight

it went well

i was in band all throughout high school, even did teacher aid for the director my last semester there

most directors are pretty chill, usually people stay in his office before and after games and other events, just follow that crowd and don't be scared of him and you'll love all 4 years

if you need some tips on how to breeze through the hard parts, pm me
