Author Topic: is it against the forums rules to use a pay-pal button?  (Read 1127 times)

I want to know if I could use a pay-pal button to raise money for a hosting service to host my Fallour rpg beta

So long as you don't force it.

Many services and servers that were referred to payment systems for donation purposes were untouched.  Just make sure you designate them as Donations.

how about offering rewards for a donation such as. more playertypes weapons and other addons?

The one in my Slayer topic is pretty blatant and nobody cares. I get enough to cover the domain name at least, if not the hosting. http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=256245.0

make it purely cosmetic if you have some kind of recognition for donations
ie, a tag or a hat or something

Like Phflack said, just make it cosmetic, maybe add different hats for people to wear.

or make their guns be golden or something

HE might not know how to edit that, but that seems like a pretty cool thing

Maybe even other things, Like Diamond, Emerald, etc...

That's not a "reward", that's a purchase.

Donator rewards are a tricky subject because if you want the rewards to be an incentive alone to donate, then they have to be useful or cool. You obviously can't just throw in powerful weapons because that would alienate everyone without access to the weaponry, but vanity items alone aren't usually an incentive to donate.

Most people donate for the benefits or to help the server because they like the server.

Was this a necessary distinction?
