Since it was abandonware, but now it's 7.99 on the steam store, is it illegal to download it for free or is it legal?

Just wanna know, since I'm not really sure.

If it's being sold it's not abandonware.

Well a few months ago it wasn't even for sale, just on the steam store but couldn't be bought, and I saw a video about there being a website that gave away abandonware.

I don't think that's right. I can sell recordings of Bach, but that doesn't mean his music is no longer in the public domain.
