Author Topic: Help me set up my blockland server (port bullstuff)  (Read 1872 times)

I am using a Dlink DIR-655
here is my forwarded port for blockland and followed portforward.com exactly

I have made my local IP static using the portforward.com network utilities tool and am using the correct one

ipconfig verifies:

UPnP is disabled on blockland

the issue is one person can connect to my server, and then after that initial connection no other users and or same user can reconnect to the server only receiving 'No Matches'

can somebody help me out?

after a really long chat and debugging we've resolved several issues that swollow was having

now, it's been boiled down to one final issue

first of, swollow's etwork topography consists of a stuffty westell DSL/ethernet converter router (192.168.1.1) his family probably got from his stuffty no-name telecom, which is the first thing between the network and the internet.
after that is a dlink router at 192.168.1.47, which is running the wifi network everything is connected to. after that is swollow's computer at 192.168.1.51, as you can see above.
after quite a stuffload of difficulty, the westell router is configured for upnp as well as the dlink one. blockland runs under upnp, and you can join the server... but then you promptly get an authentication check failure, because everyone who joins the server is given the ip of 192.168.1.47

this is not an issue with port forwarding, this is an issue with swollow's bizarre network topology and stuffty routers

does anyone have any idea how to make the dlink router function not like a transparent proxy?

On the Westell:

1) Enable UPnP.
2) Enable the DHCP server.

On the DLink:

1) Enable UPnP.
2) Disable the DHCP server.
3) Assign the DLink router a static IP address. For example my routers are 10.0.0.1 (primary - like your Westell), 10.0.0.2 (like your DLink), etc.
4) Ensure that it's on the same subnet as the Westell.

Now...

Instead of connecting an ethernet cable (from the Westell) to the DLink's WAN port, connect the cable to one of the DLink's LAN ports. Reboot all routers and reconnect.

I forgot to add: After this, no port forwarding is necessary on the DLink. You only need to set up the port forwarding rules on the Westell.

On the Westell:

1) Enable UPnP.
I Enabled UPnP on the Westell
2) Enable the DHCP server.
Here is the Westell DHCP Server

the selection input is "Off" and "Private Lan" not sure if I need to change any of the input settings?

On the DLink:
1) Enable UPnP.
Done
2) Disable the DHCP server.
Done
3) Assign the DLink router a static IP address. For example my routers are 10.0.0.1 (primary - like your Westell), 10.0.0.2 (like your DLink), etc.
4) Ensure that it's on the same subnet as the Westell.
is this how I set my static IP? and what should I make it? (this was found under network settings)

Will do after I complete other steps

The Westell looks good.

That's the right page. You should find a similar page on the Westell listing a subnet mask and an IP address (probably 192.168.1.1). Set the DLink's subnet to the same as the one listed on the Westell and set the IP to one higher than the Westell. (e.g. 192.168.1.2)

oh uh what do I do now..?

ok I plugged the internet into WAN on the DLINK and set the DLINK's ip to 192.168.1.2
I am not sure how to access my DLINK now and I can't find it under 192.168.1.2

oh uh what do I do now..?

Try just setting the WAN subnet to 0.0.0.0.

Try just setting the WAN subnet to 0.0.0.0.
I got it to work and I can host

the issue now is I can't access my DLINK

EVERYTHING IS FIXED AND WORKS HELLA
thanks so much Greek2Me and Lugnut
