it depicted a crowd of revolutionaries in a plain pulling down a giant statue of a dictator, which was connected to a wheel of statues, with a second one coming out of the ground as they were pulling the first one down

That looks like it. It might be painted by a spanish artist, though, I rememher seeig it in spanish class oje time.
