It's the poor and stuffty writing, the events that transpire are almost entirely bullstuff and don't even exist in some logical sense, and his treatment of other races, genders and the mentally impaired is horrendous.
clearly you are white knighting a treacherous franchise that was made by a sniveling writer (David loving Cage) that can't grasp how to make people feel things properly.
If I wanted to play a game that isn't quite a game, I'd go for TellTale.
