how are C's and B's mediocre?
A C is pretty mediocre, but a B is pretty good.

well uh

Maybe you're just better at alluding to your stories? Otherwise it is probably race, sadly

I once had an English teacher that wouldn't grade half of the class, (so in my district that defaults to 100%) and then she'd give A's to the super popular student council kids, (she ran student council) then gave B's and C's to everyone she disliked, and when lazy, just a 90%. I hated her.
MY\y friend is a ridiculously good writer, much better than I, which leads me to believe the issue is 100% racial and the school is discriminating against white students.

Another anecdote for you; I took an art class with a different teacher. She basically gave us a theme and told us to make our own interpretation of the theme, so we could do any project we wanted. I literally just made the most stereotypical teepee painting stuff I could make and spent maybe 5 minutes on each assignment, it went on the featured board every time, up there with photorealistic, amazing drawings. Every other person in the class worked so hard to get on that board and I got on every time for doing what amounted to 2 minutes of googling and 5 minutes of cutting paper/painting. It felt disgusting.

TBH what you learn in school isn't as important as that shiny diploma

so while in an ideal society we wouldn't need to boost people's grades in our own it is the only way to give certain groups a chance of succeeding

But treating minorities like a group of helpless children is insulting. People act like we would fail if not given bonus points for race. I feel like grades should be earned, not given, regardless of how underprivileged one is.

You can't just throw away integrity in academia to make yourself feel less white guilt about the past.

Editing to say that self flagellation about past evils isn't the right path IMO. As an example, I think the people from my community who say they're collecting "reparations" for slavery/indian removal act are loving disgusting excuses for humans and it's pathetic that people think they're owed compensation for something they didn't personally go through.

The thing that's sad is that what I think needs to happen is that minorities who benefit from affirmative action and a lack of academic integrity need to speak out against it. White people will be discredited and called "tribals" by the radical left for speaking up. The more minorities realize that unequal treatment is bullstuff and grow a pair of balls and decline special treatment, the more we can make progress to removing such prejudicial and toxic ideas and programs.

If you'd like to help, just help me find facts/studies that say that affirmative action and special treatment gives unfair advantages to some people and undermines academic integrity.

At my university, getting below a C means you failed the class :^)
It sucks

how are C's and B's mediocre?

i think just c is mediocre. as and bs are good ds and fs are stuff

i make ds :(

Ours
A: Passing
B: Passing
C: Passing
D: Passing
F: forget

I disagree with affirmative action, or whatever the program is that tends to help minority students more than white students. I think that the whole mentality of "I don't have to try my best in school because I'll get into a college anyway" is not helping minority communities, and instead they're getting set up to fail by public schools. I'm saying this as a leftist.

What actually needs to happen is public schools in poorer neighborhoods need to get better funding, too many times I hear that public schools in certain neighborhoods are crappier than other public schools in neighborhoods with less minorities, and they're right, the entire school system is being rigged against minorities. They go to public school, do badly/mediocre because they're told that they'll go to college anyway, and then when they do get into college, and graduate, they don't do so well in the workplace. They never gain an enthusiasm for learning or doing better because they go to public schools that are underfunded.

This, this year we couldn't even buy new textbooks. In algebra we made our own

Anything lower than a 3.0/B would get me kicked out of the program I'm in.

For me

A: good
B: good, depending on the value of the grade (if its a test I won't be too thrilled)
C: I should do better
D or F: I won't be happy

I am able to pass with all A's in most classes (especially public school ones). I don't like having B's if I feel that I could have done better

It doesn't help that I go to the one of top universities in the world (within top 25 or higher), so everything is so much harder.
I love it, but it's hard.
Also community college is hilarious, took classes while I was in high school and got a straight 4.0

idk what your experience has been but it sounds to me like that's just an interesting connection to make in a paper

if it's not relevant obv that's kinda weird but english teachers love seeing allusions to things like that
