imo deep web is just overrated

a lot of the 'illegal' stuff you see at first sight are going to be a scam, or in a little bit of cases trap websites.

the deep web is a service where you can purchase illegal comodities, watch real blood and gore (which you can just go onto 4chan for), rape, buy drugs and firearms (98% of the time a scam), hire HITMEN (98% of the time a scam), and basically learn how to do illegal stuff like cook meth (you can find out how to do this in a lot of places), kill a man (yes you can kill a man through your web browser), kidnap people (yes you can kidnap a person through your web browser), etc (98% of the time a scam)

almost all creepy/odd stories i've heard of from the deep web were just creepypastas, and from what i've learned the deep web really isn't even that much from dozens of people who've been on there

you can buy drugs on normal websites (i've seen one website listed as some shoe/clothing sale site end up being one to purchase plants) and not need deep web for it

i'm not going to deny that there are probably rape videos on the web, but there have also been rape videos posted on normal sites you can go to at anytime too

The darknet/deepweb/edgeweb isn't really inherently bad, since most of time the websites aren't indexed, and half of the hitmen/drug/gun dealers are just scams or even honeypots set to catch any dipstuff stupid enough to fall for them. trust me, as long as you're not intentionally searching red rooms or something like that you're safe.

Silk road got shut down by the government a long time ago. I remember them using a cookie-related 0day in the tor browser (which is highly illegal, mind you) to help them do it.

I don't really know what you guys expected. The darknet is a lot more clouded than you'd think because of the lack of really quality page indexing. To find websites you either need to use the hidden wiki (which is effectively dead, half the links there are dead), the Grams search engine (darknet onion link), or /r/onions (clearnet). The Grams search engine searches darknet markets, so if you're looking for purchasable "darknet material" you would probably start there. /r/onions is dedicated to general onion links, but obviously due to the rules of reddit won't contain anything like CP or hitmen services.

Frankly, it's pointless to go there to feel edgy. You can look at the listings on Agora for a quarter pound of White Sinaloa heroin and feel cool knowing that if only you had $11,200 you could become a local drug lord, but at the end of the day you're not gonna buy that so it's kinda pointless even looking.
