protip: use loving headphones

rip, sorry about that. I prefer headphones instead of earbuds though, mainly because all that sound up inside your ear

i dont like headphones in public because they make you look like a forgetin' goof
but at home i like them

yes
and also i don't like them at home because they're itchy and hot and clunky

It's possible Apple changed their ear pods with cheaper materials and components for mass production.

i have these 1980's Quasar stereo headphones (that im actually listening to right now), they have heavenly sound quality at the expense of bleeding out sound, BADLY

My headphones are open-back, so they bleed sound pretty bad. I love them though, I just wish they only cost $199 when I bought them.

did you buy that for the ~$500 it shows?

I got 'em on sale for Cyber Monday for like $400.

before those came into vogue i could not wear earbuds for like more than like 30 mins. seriously who the forget thought making earbuds rigid-like was a good idea?

I had a pair of Panasonic earbuds that I can wear all day and wouldn't hurt.

Uhh I hate those
Apple is more comfortable to me
how is hard as forget plastic pressing against your ear more comfortable than soft rubber which shapes right in
plus it blocks noise from outside and prevents noise bleeding

man great buy akg q701s are the stuff

hopefully you got them with a nice amp to use them to full potential but if not they're great quality anyways, and at that price range open back is the way to go

i don't understand why you would ever shell out $500 for a headset
a $10 pair of earbuds is good enough sound quality for me, i can't tell the difference above that

if you need a mic that's a bit different i guess, but a $60 to $100 headset will get you a plenty good mic (or just buy one that sits on your desk)

you're used to stuffty quality

I have Audio Technica M50s and if I were to put in apple earbuds I would kill myself because the sound quality is horrid

if you get yourself a decent set of headphones (sony mdr v6 is like $40 and is really loving good) you will hear the difference

It's kind of like asking why anyone would buy a high definition TV. You can make out the TV just fine with standard definition, so there's no "need" to shell out more money to get a higher definition.

Personally, I need headphones that put out clear sound at a high volume without distortion. I don't even like any earbuds because they can't do either of those things. They almost always either lack in the bass end or overcompensate, with an annoying peak in the high range. It ends up sounding like you're listening through a hole in the wall. Then if you turn them up too much, the sound hurts your eardrums far before that volume would from a headset. But even $20 headphones crack and hiss and blare bass at high volumes when ran through a proper amp.
