It's kind of like asking why anyone would buy a high definition TV. You can make out the TV just fine with standard definition, so there's no "need" to shell out more money to get a higher definition.
you're used to stuffty quality

I have Audio Technica M50s and if I were to put in apple earbuds I would kill myself because the sound quality is horrid
fair point i guess, but i almost wouldn't want quality things because i want to be able to enjoy music from normal earbuds without wanting to kill myself :P

Dunno. I worked my way up because I enjoyed sound quality. It's not like my first hi-fi headphone set was the one I'm wearing today, I started out with cheaper Sennheisers then worked my way up each time my headphones got worn from everyday use.

Also, if I get 2 years of everyday use out of them, that comes down to $0.54 a day to have top-quality sound. Comparatively, using a gaming computer for 8 hours a day (assuming you turn it off when not using it) costs approximately $0.40 a day in electricity.

it hasnt gotten that bad for me but it's preference really. if you're fine with the sound quality you're listening to that's fine, but for me i really like to enhance my listening experience by getting some decent/good headphones to work with, i like enhancing my sound quality and i'm never really settled. but for you that's a different story but not a bad thing

when you compare apple earpods to like, cheapass 5 dollar earbuds.. o boy the difference is painful
