She doesn't want to drink.
I am nervous as hell right now and not in the mood for jokes as stated in the OP.
dont force her to drink

There is no reason to be nervous, this happens all the time without human help

Except that I will be to blame if one of them dies and we've had an experience with one dog that didn't give a stuff about her pups so a 12-pup litter ended up being 3 pups.

pie crust i have a serious question to ask you
have you set up your dog's birth area like this?:

if so, good. this is the proper way to handle it

tell the dog to push
very hard
then give it a firm handshake for some time until smaller dogs start coming out of it

seriously dude, just leave the dog alone
it will give birth on its own and there will likely be no complications

just give the dog space to birth and leave it alone, there's no reason for human interference and why the forget would you be to blame for something that isnt your fault

Then yell at anyone that yells at you and say you had no control over it because it is nature

leave it alone you ultra-queer

squeeze the dog really hard from the neck down

if you do this correctly smaller dogs should come out of its butt. if they don't, shake the big dog and repeat process.

wouldn't having less puppies be more beneficial for you guys???

Ok, you gotta stick your gloved hand into the passage to gently turn the cal-

stuff, we're talking about dogs.

Leave her alone, she'll do it herself.

There is always a chance puppies might die, but, y'know, nature. But really, the mother should be able to deliver all with instinct. Don't touchy touch if your life doesn't depend on it.

Also, the mother is ready to give birth. Expect whelping to occur in within 12 hours. I see you have a whelping box ready, good.

But yeah, you'll know if a puppy gets stuck (probably won't). Further, placentas will usually arrive with the puppy and if they won't they will come after every puppy is out. Further, if a mother -forgets- to stimulate breathing (she does this by licking the puppy to rid the sack around it and well, stimulate breathing) MAKE SURE you use a CLEAN towel to rub the puppy. You'll know you did a good job if the pup coughs/does breathing thingies/starts to cry. Something about liquid being in the airways is around from what I remember, so just watch a video or something.

Give this a quick check if the mother doesn't do all the things her instincts tell her to do!

(cesar might not be the best trainer but my mom's friend said she "likes the site's way of explaining it")
ps: mom's friend is a breeder, watched a golden retriever give birth.
