The VRAM isn't really an issue at 1080 though. You usually only start seeing the benefits of it at higher resolutions and multi-monitor setups.

Holy crap 8 gigs of vram? Get that r9 sucker lol

My laptop has a gtx 960 in it and it runs p well though gmod still lags like crap all the time

Oh by the way if your wondering some kind of tutorial or something you should check out this guy: fml this is the best vidya that should have explain evrything.

What the hell?!

The 960 only goes up to 4Gb or vram and if it were in a laptop it would be a gtx 960m.

And also were talking about 970s not 960s.

EDIT: didn't realize that you were talking about the r9 having 8Gb

i've never had any problems with my 970 so im going to have to say 970
it runs everything i throw at it without an issue besides ultra shaders lmao

I don't trust AMD, not with my processors, and definitely not with my graphics cards.

Well, I mean, AMD does have cheap 8-core processors. But when Intel figures the forget out how to make everything cheaper with their 8-cores, I'll bite. Not saying you would need 8-core of Intel fast processors, but overkill is always the better option 8).

So 970 it is? I'll leave it up for one more day and make my decision then.

Go with the R9 390, I loving hte these damn nividia drivers "stopped working but was able to recover" or "nvidia control panel is not responding an needs to close" this is always my experience with nvidia cards including my 750 SC that has held up well so far.

People should not bash on AMD for their past, the R9 390 actually performs decently from the reviews I have seen.

i have a 970 and its absolutely amazing
i can run GTA V at near max settings with 50-60 fps
its amazing
also running the blockland main menu at 1000 fps is cool too

Get the 970; the extra VRAM of the 390 won't affect performance at 1080p and since it uses less power it also overclocks better.

It's not about the past, it's about the present for me. I have an AMD Radeon M275X on my laptop, and you would not believe how much trouble I had to go through to get that thing to work even a little bit, and even now some games still ignore it.

what. do you suffer from the cancer that is nvidia optimus or something?
a 960m should run gta v on high
