Author Topic: What is your summer homework/school stuff  (Read 2189 times)

"It got lost in the mail."
they usually put the assignment on the school website too, and send you a message about it on infinite campus.

None. I finished all my school work in March and I don't start until late October

you get your assignment in the mail from your new teacher before school ends where im from.
Lol, we don't even find out our new teachers till the first day of school

I have to finish my drawing class which I kinda ignored during the school year.

There's always that one "class" as a homeschooler...

Since I'm finishing in advanced classes at my highschool (excluding science because it's boring as stuff) I have a bunch of summer work. If I look online I can find the regulation assignments for the classes I'm going into (regardless of teacher)

I have to read a novel and write a poem about every chapter (done - animal farm because im probly gonna have to read that some other time anyway and its short) (English)
I have to write a 2 paragraph response to an article about Gun Control every week of summer (ive been collecting articles but havent written anything) (US Government)
I have to complete an English packet (nope) (English)
I have to complete a Math packet (aw hell no) (Algebra)
I have to design a "proof-of-concept" page for the yearbook (Yearbook, I was the Yearbook Editor last year and will probably be again so the school can leach $$$ off me)
i just realized i havent even checked for debate class. thanks BLF.

because if you're like some of us, you get those types of teachers who think that they're "all that" and think it's cool to shove as much school work down your throat as possible because they think you're "learning"
we only have them for AP classes. in elementary and middle school we had summer reading assignments though.

I don't even understand how summer homework works. You don't have the same teacher the next year, so how can they verify that you did it? The only way I can see it working is if every teacher assigned the same summer homework for every grade and then they collected it the next year.
we got our assignments on the last week of school from our teachers for next year. my school is very small tho so

Read a few books. Nothing bad.

so wait, how do schools intend on grading you for summer work? Do they take points off your next course? What if you change schools?

it's just part of your grade for the year

the way my school system did it was we had a home room teacher that you were assigned to. you attended their class for about 30 minutes every day, and it was the same teacher from 9th to 12th for everyone

thats who you turned in your summer assignments to. theyd assign you your summer work via the school website

- the 9th grade level exercises in Subject I of all 100 of last year's maths variants for the BAC test
- the 9th grade level exercises in 25 informatics variants for the BAC test
- a book
- probably more books if i don't want to be completely swamped with lecture next year

it's the first grading or whatever you get in the next school year. that's why the 4th grade (primary to secondary), 8th grade (secondary to high) and 12th grade (high to college) don't have summer homework

at least thats how it is over here
