70 years ago Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allied forces effectively ending WWII. Tomorrow will be the official V-J day for the UK and when the surrender was announced to the world, the formal signing of the surrender did not take place until September 2nd on-board the USS Missouri in Tokyo bay.

plus the bombs are the only reason that the war ended, if not for the bombs it could have gone on for tens of years more and killed millions more than the bombs ever could have

I agree, but tens of years more is a bit much. At most 6 months for the US and USSR to end the war conventionally.
