Author Topic: blogland: best way to memorize countries of the world?  (Read 2336 times)

so basically, my school is the super snobby advanced school, and while it's pretty nice, the workload is incredibly large.

the first day of school (2 days from now) we have a test where we're given a world map, and we're supposed to locate and mark every country in the world. do most ap classes/schools do this and im just blind, or is this uncommon? most of all, does anyone have a good way to memorize every country in the world?

If you think that's a heavy workload, try doing a degree.

for middle school, sorry.

It should be easy for most of the world. You'll probably have the most trouble with Africa, but even then there's tons of mnemonics you can use.

We had to learn all of Central/South America, then all of Africa, then (major countries of) Asia and then all of Europe. We never had to know them all at the same time though, our tests were always by continent.

I don't think you're going to be able to do it in 2 days, if you're not already 95% done with memorizing. I remember I could say all of the countries of Africa without a map, by saying each country and what it borders; that was pretty fun.

I guess you could memorize them by continent, so when you're doing the test, you can focus on one continent at a time.

This also works very well. Listen to this (While watching the video), and you'll learn the song in no time. (Except the video is in 240p, and is very fast so that doesn't help much).

Try to remember the names in a song, easier by continent.

do this an arse load of times

when its over look at the ones you didnt get, remember as many as you can and do it again
at least thats how i did it

islands are the absolute worst to memorize

if you don't get nigeria, then shame on you

maybe try to write them in a list and read like 10 over and over, then try to remember them without looking at the list; do this over and over during a day. if you think you got them all, then advance on to the next 10 and do that same thing. later on go back to previous names to make sure you remember them and if there are some you forgot, then you can just try to memorize them again.

just an idea it sometimes worked for me
