no the router is fine

no the router is fine
What about the adapter on the computer?

Maybe it's just that I'm not trying to use wireless through a huge house... But I think that would affect latency more then throughout

I have those weird things you plug into a wall and then you run an Ethernet cable from the computer to the thing plugged in, and the plugged in thing connects wirelessly to the router upstairs.

I guess it's like a medium between wired and wireless. It's a lot faster than my desktops stuffty wireless card though

My issue at home is that my parents aren't at all tech-savvy so just put up with the awful routers provided by our ISP.
And at the moment our ISP provides our satellite tv package too (or the other way round really), and they've told my dad he has to use their router or else the TV box won't be able to connect and use downloaded content like catch-up. And I'm pretty sure this is bullstuff since it literally just plugs in through ethernet. And my dad isn't going to ignore what he's been told by the ISP in fear of the tv not working :/

And then my issue at uni is that despite a few hundred people paying £3000+ a year for barely-upkept halls they can't afford to get a consistent or effective wifi or ethernet connection to the halls.
